Delta CP Leads On-the-Spot Inspection of Asaba–Onitsha Expressway, Intervenes in Traffic Gridlock
By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, has led a joint on-the-spot inspection of the Niger Bridge axis of the Asaba–Onitsha Expressway as part of efforts to address persistent traffic congestion along the busy route.
The inspection followed a strategic meeting involving key security and traffic management agencies on measures to ease the gridlock and improve the movement of motorists, particularly around areas affected by ongoing road construction.
CP Erale was accompanied by the Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Chinedu Fabian Igbo; the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Corps Commander Charles E. Edem; representatives of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DETSMA); and officials of the road construction contractors.
During the exercise, the stakeholders assessed major traffic bottlenecks around the Niger Bridge axis and examined practical measures for improving vehicular movement.
The Commissioner of Police and other officials also intervened directly to facilitate the free flow of traffic while monitoring the impact of the ongoing construction works on motorists and commuters.
The joint inspection underscores the commitment of the security and traffic management agencies to strengthening inter-agency cooperation and implementing coordinated measures to reduce congestion and enhance road safety along the strategic Asaba–Onitsha corridor.
