Amnesty: Dikio replies ex-agitators, says only genuine accounts will be paid

The Interim coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd), has said that the reason for the delay in payment of N65, 000 monthly stipends to some beneficiaries of the programme was due to efforts by PAP to stop manipulations of the system by some amnesty generals and commanders.

Dikio, in a statement signed on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Media, Nneotaobase Egbe, added that the commitment of the PAP to ensure genuine beneficiaries received their monthly stipends regularly and timely couldn’t be overemphasized.

According to him, PAP investigation into many complaints and petitions it received over the years from ex-agitators and other stakeholders on allegations of fraudulent conversions of beneficiaries’ names and other irregularities revealed that the rots need to be cleared.

He stressed the investigation became necessary to correct identified anomalies and cleanse the system.

Dikio stated that the ongoing verification led to a number of irregular payments as stipends meant for some names under investigation had to be suspended pending the outcome of the probe.

But he assured that the genuine beneficiaries affected by the ongoing probe would surely receive their stipends.

He noted that contrary to reports, only the stipends of a few beneficiaries were affected by the investigations.

The board should also understand that bush names where changed in Obubra camp. It was the instructors said anyone with bush names should change to their real names. It was there I changed from bush names to my real names. At first we were all scared that federal government might arrest us so 90% used bush names, as we went to Obubra orientation camp it was there the instructors explained and said we should not be scared.
Already we have used our bush names to open accounts, when the BVN matters arise bank started giving us headaches bcos our real names are in the bvn. So uba back told me to swear affidavits so that they can attached it as documents to enable draw money. I did all what they asked me to do before I was allowed to withdrew money.
Col Dikio should look into those issues before pending our stipends, we are real from Tompolo (camp 5).
We registered at Agbarho before going to Obubra camp for the rehabilitation studies. Since 2009 I have been receiving salary until this August salary delayed.
