The Pan-Ijaw rights group, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI has appealed to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and his Edo counterpart, Mr Godwin Obaseki and High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo to prevail on the police authorities to urgently release the detained government aides, Comrade Daniel Ezekiel SSA security to Delta state government and Hon. God’stime Ogidigba SSA to Edo government on Waterways.

The appeal was contained in a press statement signed by its national secretary Comrade Emma Ken on Friday morning in Benin.

He maintained that the governments of the two states should timely intervene so that outlaws would not have their way by sending them to jail unlawfully.

He equally appealed to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, the Niger Delta leader to prevail against the perceived moves by some unscrupulous individuals to framed-up the detained government officials to jail them illegally to continue their criminal activities.

The foremost Niger Delta activist said all allegations levelled against the duo were mere lies and cooked up stories that lacked the integrity of truth.

He added that the firearm taken to the police by the petitioners is not admissible evidence in law as it could be possibly manipulated by the petitioners to allege their victims.

IPDI urged the police to make a proper investigation on the firearm brought to them by the petitioners and ensured they (petitioners) were arrested and prosecuted for this evil act.

He further called on the Inspector General of police to get the government officials out of detention, adding that the entire petition was a falsehood peddled by some criminal elements in the Inikorogha community.
