A Delta based human rights activist, Comrade Isreal Joe has called on the governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to implement the independent investigation report of the EndSARS probe in the state.

This was contained in a press statement signed by himself and made available to Congress correspondent on Monday.

The activist argued that implementation of the judicial panel report would bring justice to those who witness firsthand brutality and injustice during the EndSARS protest.

The statement reads: “As a proponent of the #EndSARS protest in Delta State, we are seriously concerned about the delay of the implementation of the Judicial Panel report by Delta State government which has been submitted to the governor months ago.

“Deltans have been patiently waiting for the moment where they will celebrate justice against police brutality, oppression, victimization and extortion during the #EndSARS. The Delta State governor has promised serious commitment towards ending police impunity, and it is our appeal that he should act on the report timely as Deltans are now disturbed and running out of patience

The statement further read partly: “The judicial panel report when implemented would mean a lot for justice for those who witnessed firsthand brutality and injustice to whom the panel recommended compensation.

“However, while we appreciate the works done by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Mohammed Ali in the reduction of crime, especially the cult related activities in the state, we also call on the CP to prevail on the Sapele DPO to stop police extortion in the area.

“Equally, the DPO in Otu-Jeremi should also be cautioned to stop his men who always mount checkpoint at Otokutu Bridge near Warri to collect 100 naira each from motorist, keke riders and bus drivers.
