FCT CP to Deploy 4,200 Police, Vows to Resist Violent Protest

The Abuja Police Command has vowed that the anticipated planned nationwide protest by human rights activists and youths against hunger and hardship, they have massively deployed both material and human resources across the FCT.
“The deployment is aimed to assure public safety, protect protesters, and prevent protest from being hijacked by miscreants and non-state actors.
“It includes visibility policing and the deployment of explosive ordinance device (EOD) experts and personnel at various strategic locations.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Nigerian police will conduct raids an identify red spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties. They will also engage in stop-and-search operations, vehicular and foot patrols, and maintain cooperation with sister security agencies.
“The FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Benneth Igweh, also acknowledged that the residents has right to protest, admonishes protesters to remain peaceful in their demonstration.
However, SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson in a statement also said, “The CP vows to resist all forms of violent protest and lawlessness, the police will not allow illegal destruction of public and private properties or loss of lives.
