Nigeria – July 26, 2024, in response to the high cost of living and worsening insecurity situation, Nigerian youths are set to stage a nationwide protest on August 1. Organized by a coalition of youth groups and civil society organizations, the peaceful demonstration will take place in major cities including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
The protest aimed to draw attention to the economic hardships and security challenges that had significantly affected the daily lives of Nigerians. Organizers are calling on the government to take immediate action to alleviate these issues.
“The escalating cost of living and rampant insecurity are unacceptable. This protest is a call for urgent change and accountability,” said by one of the lead organizers.
Participants are urged to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the protest. The authorities had been informed that the government would engage constructively with the protesters’ demands.
