Fees increment: DELSU VC invites security operatives over fear of students protest

Tension is heightened in Delta State University, Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State as the school management invited combined security operatives to takeover the school premises on Monday over fear of students protest, following the unethical increase of fees in the university.

A source said the main campus gate and other sites including the VC’s office were taken over by combined security operatives for fear of students protest yesterday.

According to our source, the atmosphere of the school was charged at Monday morning.

Congress gathered that students are preparing for a showdown with the school management over what they described as incessant increment of school fees in the university.

Congress recalled that the VC of the varsity had earlier threatened to close down Oleh campus of the school, if the students gave him impossible conditions as regards the fee increment, a statement that had been condemned by many well meaning Nigerians.

A student who pleaded condition of annomity said the VC’s action of inviting police and army in every little issues in the school is condemnable.He said many students had also escaped the school premises to avoid victimization.

He further stated that the VC had turned the school into a money making venture and no longer interested in academic excellence, adding that the governor should intervene to raise the falling standard of the school.
