•Says the arrest may destabilize the war against oil thieves

The foremost Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, has condemned the unlawful arrest of Tanita’s Executive Director of Operations and Technical, Capt. Warren Enisuoh over an issue that was long addressed by the Court of Appeal in a suit number CA/L/1320/2016 which was delivered on 25th November 2017 by the EFCC.

However, the group demanded his immediate release and an unreserved apology for the inconvenience and damages for the unlawful arrest.

This was disclosed in a statement by its National President Ambassador (Comr) Ozobo Austin of which a copy was sent to Congress newspaper on Monday.

According to the group, the arrest of Enisuoh was unlawful and amounted to an abuse of court procedure, adding that the group would consult its lawyer to institute a contempt suit against EFCC.

The group asserted that it is a trite law that no man should be rearrested or tried for the same offence he or she had been acquainted with.

IPDI also maintained that EFCC lacked constitutional power to compel Tantita ED Enisuoh to provide sources of confidential intelligence over the ongoing war against oil thieves and environment saboteurs, except the court on room trial to avoid endangering the identities of people who are assisting the oil thieves war with credible information.

“The arrest is barbaric, unlawful, inimical and an attempt to spike up tension in the Niger Delta region. The EFCC should be advised to tread with caution, not to add fuel to a burning fire” the IPDI noted.

The group stressed that EFCC does not need service on a suit in which it was fully represented, noting that the EFCC can not rejuvenate a case that was killed and buried over 5 years ago.

“The judgment unfreezing Enisuoh account was delivered over 5 years ago. EFCC was satisfied, hence it sees no need to appeal. The sudden twist of EFCC is meant to witch-hunt Enisuoh and others.”

The group, however, appealed for the immediate release of Captain Enisuoh Waredi from EFCC custody for peace and justice in the Niger Delta.
