The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Michael Lenin, a prominent leader of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, at his residence in Abuja.

Lenin, the national coordinator of the Youth Rights Campaign, was taken into custody for criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s broadcast on Sunday, in which he expressed disappointment with the president’s response to the ongoing protests.

The Take It Back Movement has demanded Lenin’s immediate and unconditional release, condemning the arrest as an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The #EndBadGovernance protests, which began on August 1, 2024, continue to gain momentum, with demonstrators calling for better governance, a lean government, food security, and fiscal discipline.

Lenin’s arrest has sparked widespread outrage, with many Nigerians taking to social media to express their solidarity with the protest leader and demand his release.
