By Joseph Bienbo, Warri
The National Chairman of the 3rd Phase Amnesty Programme Delegates Forum, *General Godstime Ogidigba*, has applauded the Edo State Government for approving a special court to prosecute kidnapping and cultism cases.
In a statement released to journalists on Saturday, June 21, 2026, Gen. Ogidigba described the move by Governor *Senator Monday Okpebholo* as a “bold and timely step” in the fight against insecurity in the state. He noted that the establishment of a dedicated court would ensure speedy trials and serve as a deterrent to criminal elements.
The Amnesty chairman also commended the Edo State Commissioner of Police and officers of the Command for the swift arrest of a syndicate behind the abduction of a lady at the Vegetable Market, off Airport Road, Benin City.
Calling for broader collaboration, Gen. Ogidigba urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, community heads, political stakeholders across party lines, civil society organizations, market women, and youth leaders to support the Okpebholo administration’s security efforts.
“We assure the governor of our continued support to ensure Edo State remains safe for all residents,” he said.
