PDP Welcomes Jonathan’s Presidential Bid in 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its willingness to support former President Goodluck Jonathan if he decides to run for president again in 2027. Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi stated that Jonathan has the support and sympathy of Nigerians amid the current challenges facing the nation.

Abdullahi highlighted Jonathan’s past achievements, including maintaining single-digit inflation, stabilizing the Naira, and regulating the economy. He also argued that Jonathan’s leadership was unfairly criticized, particularly regarding security, and pointed out the rise of new security challenges under the current administration.

The PDP’s openness to Jonathan’s potential bid comes as some Nigerians, including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, have called for his return to office. However, the ruling All Progressives Congress has criticized the PDP for showing desperation.
