Rivers Crisis: Rights Activist, Ozobo Backs Governor Fubara, Calls for Unity
By Peters Monday, Abuja
The President of the Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI), Comrade Ozobo Austin, has thrown his weight behind Rivers State Governor, Mr. Sim Fubara, amid the ongoing crisis in the state.
In a statement, Ozobo urged Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Wike Nyesom, to put aside his differences and support the Governor, describing him as a “workaholic”.
Ozobo’s endorsement comes at a critical time in Rivers State, where political tensions have been running high. The IPDI leader’s call for unity and cooperation aims to promote stability and progress in the state, emphasising the need for collaborative leadership to address the challenges facing Rivers State.
The crisis in Rivers State has been characterized by political infighting, economic stagnation, and social unrest. Ozobo’s intervention is seen as a timely effort to broker peace and promote unity among the state’s political leaders.
The IPDI President’s statement reads in part: “We must put aside our differences and work together to build a better future for Rivers State. Governor Fubara has demonstrated his commitment to the development of the state, and we must support him to achieve his vision.”
