The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been applauded by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone for its compliance with the Supreme Court’s directive to conduct a fresh delineation of electoral wards and polling units in the Warri Federal Constituency.

In a statement signed by Comrade Nicholas Igarama, Chairman, IYC Western Zone, Ebi Joshua Olowolayemo Esq., Secretary, and Tare Magbei, Information Officer, the IYC commended INEC’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and promoting democratic processes in Nigeria.

The council urged INEC to maintain impartiality, equity, and transparency throughout the exercise, ensuring fair representation of all ethnic groups’ rights and interests in the constituency.

The IYC also called on Ijaw political leaders and stakeholders to actively participate in the delineation process, safeguarding the rights of the Ijaw people within the constituency.

Meanwhile, the council condemned the recent protests by some Itsekiri youths against the lawful exercise, labeling such actions as unjustified and counterproductive. The IYC warned that any attempts to disrupt or sabotage the delineation process will not be tolerated and urged security agencies to ensure adequate protection for INEC officials to carry out their duties unhindered.
