Arise, Isoko People: The Time To Develop Isoko Nation Is Now — Demand Transparency From Your Leaders -Gen Omogha
By Monday Peters, Abuja
The Concerned Sons and Daughters of Isoko Kingdom for Good Governance is urging traditional rulers, the Isoko Development Union (IDU), community chairmen, president-generals, and all indigenes of Isoko Nation to unite and hold the chairmen of Isoko South and Isoko North Local Government Areas accountable for the persistent darkness and underdevelopment across Isoko land.
In a statement released to journalists by the group’s coordinator, Gen. Omogha Wilson Ajiri, he raised concerns over the alleged mismanagement of the 2024 and 2025 local government budgets by both council chairmen.
According to him, billions of naira were allocated by the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to rehabilitate and develop the Isoko Nation. Sadly, there are no meaningful projects on the ground to justify the funds. Instead, the money allegedly ended up in the pockets of certain individuals parading themselves as Isoko’s political leaders.
He further disclosed that in the 2026 Delta State budget, the sum of ₦15.7 billion was approved for Isoko North, with nearly the same amount allocated to Isoko South, for the development of Isoko Nation.
“Charity begins at home,” Ajiri stated. “It is time we start asking our council chairmen, as our representatives, to account for the billions of naira released to them by the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration for the development of Isoko Nation.”
The group appealed for calm and a united front to sanitise both local government councils before extending its demands to the state government and federal lawmakers representing Isoko Nation in the Delta South Senatorial District.
“We remain committed to the development of Isoko Nation and Delta State at large,” the statement concluded.
