Following a bid by the Delta State government to restore sanity in Warri and its environs, the Warri, Uvwie, and Environs Special Area Development Agency, WUEDA, has reminded motorists in the area that as of January 2024 all unauthorized motor parks will be shut down to restore the beauty of the Oil City.

This remark was made by the the Director General of the Agency, Prince Godwin Ejinyere after a drive around the city to observe some areas notorious for chaotic vehicular traffic in Effurun on Christmas Day.

He mentioned the areas such as Jakpa, Airport, Enerhen junctions, Udu Road to express junction in Ovwian, Effurun roundabout, tankers park and express junction by refinery bridge, and Ugbuwangue junction along NPA expressway.

Others are PTI junction, DSC roundabout, Ugbomro, Otokutu and Mofor junctions along the DSC expressway, Okumagba Estate, Okere Market, Warri Main Market and Igbudu Market by Hausa quarters; DDPA, Ugborikoko, and Edjeba junctions along Airport Road; and Ekpan roundabout in Ekpan.

According to him, these areas have been notorious for indiscriminate parking and loading of vehicles, especially tricycles, along the roads and at road junctions in the name of motor parks, which he said would be shut down to give the City a facelift in 2024.

Ejinyere further warned that broken down vehicles abandoned on the streets and roads would be impounded by the appropriate Govt agencies working in synergy with WUEDA, to bring sanity to the City. He said owners of such vehicles should be made to face sanctions through the aid of a task force and a Mobile Court.

The agency said that the it would shut down all unauthorized markets in any part of the Oil City, as such markets have compounded the chaotic vehicular traffic situation in parts of the Agency’s mandate areas

The WUEDA DG emphasised that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was serious about restoring the lost glory of Warri, Uvwie and their environs, stressing that his Agency would ensure the Governor’s MORE agenda for the Oil City was achieved to the letter.
