IPDI Slams Tinubu’s Speech As ‘Sham’ For Inciting Security Agents Against Protesters
By Peters Monday, Abuja
The Ijaw People’s Development Initiative (IPDI) has criticised the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent speech, labeling it a “sham” and an “utter disappointment” for failing to address the concerns of protesters and aggrieved Nigerians.
In a statement by the President of the rights protection group, Comrade Ozobo Austin, expressed outrage over Tinubu’s failure to address the country’s pressing concerns, including Non-functional refineries, resulting in fuel import dependence, Widespread hunger and food insecurity, Deteriorating seaports, hindering economic growth, Exorbitant fuel costs, burdening citizens and Unlawful killings of protesters by security agents, violating human rights.
Tinubu’s speech instead focused on strengthening security agencies, sparking fears of intimidation and silencing of protesters and aggrieved individuals. This approach has ignited widespread outrage and disappointment among Nigerians, who demand a leader who addresses the nation’s challenges and promotes positive change.
The IPDI’s criticism reflects the country’s desire for a more comprehensive and empathetic leadership that prioritised citizens’ welfare and well-being. Nigerians expect their leader to provide solutions to the nation’s pressing issues, rather than ignoring them and prioritising and citing security agents against Nigerians.
The IPDI’s statement served as a call to action, urging President Tinubu to reassess his priorities and address the critical concerns facing the nation. The country eagerly awaits a more effective and compassionate approach to leadership.
