Oborevwori moves to release 3 months allocation to LG chairmen

By Sunday Onye, Senior correspondent
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has assured newly elected local government council chairmen in Delta State that their statutory allocations for the past three months remained intact. He charged them to prioritised visible infrastructure projects, address insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and environmental decay in their areas.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony in Asaba, the governor advised the chairmen to exercise fiscal discipline, prudent management, and judicious allocation of resources. He highlighted the state government’s commitment to local government autonomy, noting that the Supreme Court’s judgment on financial autonomy is a welcome development.
Oborevwori encouraged the chairmen to boost their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) but cautioned against overtaxing the already burdened populace. He congratulated the chairmen on their election victory, and they pledged to adopt the governor’s MORE Agenda and justify the confidence reposed in them.
