The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced the arrest of some sponsors of the recent protests in Nigeria, including 6 Spanish nationals. The sponsors, who were arrested in Kano, are accused of funding the violence and subversion that occurred during the protests.

The Police also arrested 76 others, including a tailor who was sewing Russian flags for the protesters. The Comptroller-General of Nigerian Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, revealed that diaspora sponsors of the protests have been placed on the agency’s watchlist and will be arrested upon arrival in the country.

The Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, stated that some accounts of the sponsors have been blocked, and their sources of funding have been stopped. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, warned that the military will not stand idly by and watch the country slide into anarchy.

Protests have continued in some parts of the country, including Port Harcourt, where protesters blocked major roads and marched to the private residence of Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. However, calm has been restored in Kaduna and Kano, where curfews were imposed to douse the protests.
