#Endbadgovernance: Court Remands 632 Protesters in Prison
By Peters Monday, Abuja
A Kano State Mobile Court has remanded 632 protesters in prison for alleged acts of vandalism and theft during the nationwide protest. The defendants face charges including criminal conspiracy, theft, unlawful assembly, and mischief by fire.
The court, presided over by three senior judicial officers, adjourned the case until August 19 for hearing. Some defendants pleaded guilty, while others pleaded not guilty.
The State Attorney-General, Mr. Haruna Isa-Dederi, stated that the state government constituted three mobile courts to prosecute the defendants and that the case file would be studied before the next adjourned date.
The protesters were accused of trespassing and vandalizing government and public properties, including breaking into shops and looting goods, contravening sections of the Penal Code.
