By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Two young women, identified as cousins Tshiamo Moramaga, 22, and Baleseng Moramaga, 21, have been found dead with gunshot wounds to their heads in Mamelodi East, Tshwane, South Africa.
The tragic discovery was made on Sompisi Street, Extension 17, early on Sunday morning, 26 October 2025. Both women were dressed alike in white skirts and black shirts, suggesting they had been together shortly before the attack.
According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, officers from SAPS Mamelodi East responded to the scene at around 6:15 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the bodies of the two victims and launched a double murder investigation.
The motive for the killings remains unclear, and authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could aid the investigation.
Family members have been left devastated by the loss.
“I’m so hurt. I’m shattered because she was the only daughter I had. I’m now left with two sons,” said Itumeleng Moramaga, mother of Tshiamo.
She added that neighbours reported hearing arguments and gunshots around 4 a.m. on the night of the incident.
Police revealed that a message found on Baleseng’s phone showed the cousins were in contact shortly before the shooting. However, Tshiamo’s phone was missing and is suspected to have been stolen.
The South African Police Service is urging anyone with relevant information to contact the nearest police station or call the Crime Stop hotline.
