Staff of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) have lamented over unauthorized deductions of 30% salaries and bonuses of workers by the management. They’re calling on Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to intervene and ensure fair treatment.

The staff are concerned that these deductions are not only illegal but also unacceptable, given the governor’s promises to prioritize their welfare.

It was gathered that Governor Oborevwori had promised to improve the lives of DESOPADEC staff, including paying the minimum wage and ensuring timely payment of salaries.

However, the staff are now urging the governor to live up to his expectations and address the issue of unauthorized deductions. They want transparency and accountability in the management of their salaries and benefits.

The staff urged the management of the commission to wear human face and pay up all arrears, deductions and bonuses.

While the management is yet to speak, the staff are adamant that the deductions are unfair and need to be addressed.

Meanwhile, the governor’s response to this issue will be crucial in maintaining the trust and confidence of DESOPADEC staff.

It would be recalled that the staff’s union had dragged the commission to the industrial court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State over the delay in reversing the unlawful deductions of salary and bonuses.
