A suspected auto thief was captured in Aba by the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Abia State Command, and the stolen car was seized from him.

This was announced in a statement on Sunday by Chinwendu Enyioko, the FRSC’s Assistant Road Commander (Public Education) in Abia.

Enyioko reported that the FRSC National Vehicle Identification Scheme was used in Aba to recover the stolen Toyota Camry with registration number URL 974 TY.

The Assistant Commander reported that the automobile was found when the suspect took it to the FRSC Desk Officer in Aba to change ownership. The Assistant Commander went on to say that the police had been given custody of both the discovered stolen vehicle and the suspect for further investigation.

Eight automobiles had been recovered using the National Vehicle Identification System (NVIS) in the last two years, according to the FRSC Public Education Officer, who encouraged the public to register their vehicles on the NVIS platform.

The Assistant Commander also raised awareness of the fact that vehicle registration on the NVIS gives national security services access to valuable intelligence.
