#Gov’ship Poll: Bus, Taxi Drivers Flee Over Heavy Military Presence In Benin

The Edo governorship election, which started electoral process at 8:00 a.m. Saturday (today) has woke up to witness heavy security personnel mounting road blocks on every nook and cranny of Benin as early as 6:00 a.m
Congress news learnt that the security architecture spread their tentacles in the early hours of the day in Benin and it environs to stop and search vehicles on the roads as well as requesting the residents questions in order to ensure security, law, and order during the election.
Meanwhile, commercial bus drivers who wanted to do some quick business were able to swing and apply alternative routes to avoid roadblocks, questioning by security officers.
The popular Ring Road had a notable presence of military officers, especially at the Sapele Road, Forestry Junction, and Sapele Road axes, with an armoured tank stationed at the city centre.
However, there was also a wide spread presence of security officers at Okida Road, Ekenwan Road and at the INEC office at Ikpoba Hill.
Our correspondent also observed that there were barricades at Agbado Market area and Ring Road axis of Akpakpava and Sapele Roads.
