Foremost Rights Activist AMB. Comrade Ozobo Austin has warned President Muhammadu Buhari and Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme’s interim coordinator, Major general Barry Ndiomu not to end the scholarship scheme in the amnesty programme, stating that the ongoing moves to suspend the scholarship scheme are already causing tension in the region.

Ozobo who doubled as the National President of the revered Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI disclosed this in a news briefing in Benin, Edo State on Thursday.

He said the scholarship scheme had helped in training morals and non-violence approaches to issues in the Niger Delta region.

The activist explained that the peace enjoyed in the region was largely contributed to by the educational trainings received by the ex-agitators through the scholarship scheme of the programme.

Ozobo who is also the national Secretary of the Conference for the Actualization of Human Rights, CAHR, said the current PAP coordinator is incompetent, hence the abrupt suspension of the scholarship scheme of the programme.

He further emphasized that stopping the scholarship scheme of the programme would cause a fresh uproar in the Niger Delta region.

The IPDI president stressed that the increase in daily oil production was due to the moral training and education engagements of ex-agitators.

The activist called on Buhari and Ndiomu to lift the suspension of the scholarship scheme of the presidential amnesty programme to avoid an attack on the nation’s critical assets by any angry ex-agitator.
