By Stephen Asaba-ase & Miracle Esegha
The administrator of the presidential Amnesty programme, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro during a stakeholders’ dialogue with the phase 2 delegates of the presidential Amnesty programme has said that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making great efforts for the continuous peace and development of the Niger Delta region.
He stressed that Niger Delta youths and stakeholders have greater prospects in the amnesty programme under his leadership.
Speaking on Saturday 22nd June, 2024 at the KFT event centre in Warri, Delta State, Otuaro reassured amnesty beneficiaries that all suspended programmes such as foreign educational, vocational training and scholarship opportunities would be reinstated.
His words, “We have over 30 thousand plus beneficiaries in the programme. I’m here to create opportunities for our delegates and other critical stakeholders. I’m here to dialogue with you to know your challenges so I could solve them. We must make use of these opportunities to better ourselves beyond the N65,000 stipend.
“I want us to look beyond the N65,000 stipend. Some were trained but no empowerment. I’m aware of all these challenges. I want us to brainstorm and dialogue as brothers to deepen the programme. Under my leadership we must deepen this programme. We can do it if we can speak in one voice.
“The president meant well for Niger Delta. I have the ears of the president. He wants our development and well-being. I want a peaceful deliberation today. I am aware of the challenges in the Presidential Amnesty Programme Cooperative Society Limited, PACOSOL, I want this empowerment programme to be effective and more robust for every stakeholder. By God’s grace, I will invest in it to benefit all leaders and stakeholders of the programme”, he stated.
