PAP: Tonye Bobo faults attack on Otuaro, says alleged secret document has been in public space since 2020

By Monday Peters, Abuja
Former Niger Delta agitator Bobo Tonye, also known as Sir T, has come out swinging against calls for the removal of Dr. Dennis Otuaro as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) by a non-existing group, parading under the euphoria of the Ogbe-Ijoh Interest and Defensive Forum.
The controversy surrounds a leaked alleged confidential security document on social media, which some claim was released by Otuaro. However, Tonye believes this is nothing more than a smear campaign orchestrated by enemies of the Niger Delta region, adding that the said document has been in the public space for four years.
According to Tonye, Otuaro’s efforts to reform the PAP and include all stakeholders in the region have rattled those who benefited from the status quo ¹. He argues that the leaked document is a fabrication aimed at destabilizing the region and undermining Otuaro’s progress.
The Ogbe-Ijoh Interest and Defensive Forum has been leading the charge against Otuaro, but Tonye urged President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to ignore what he calls “clearly fabricated stories”.
Instead, Tonye wants the Ijaw nation, Niger Deltans, and Nigerians to rally behind Otuaro as he works to transform the PAP.
The Presidential Amnesty Programme was established in 2009 to disarm, demobilize, and reintegrate former Niger Delta agitators. “Otuaro’s leadership has focused on promoting peace and security in the region, the statement urged.
