By Monday Peters, Abuja
Niger Delta Youth Leader, Comrade Daniel Perela Ezekiel has commended the African Democratic Congress, ADC leadership for responding to the cry of marginalised voices in the recent coalition movement in the country.
In what was described as a significant stride toward inclusive political participation, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed Ambassador Tammy Lucky Opone, an illustrious son of the Izon nation, as its National Director of Media and Publicity.
The appointment comes just days after strong concerns were raised by Comrade Daniel Perela Ezekiel, a prominent Niger Delta youth leader and renowned human rights activist, regarding the absence of Izon representation within the recently unveiled ADC national structure.
Ezekiel, who raised the alarm publicly a week ago during the ADC’s national unveiling, had voiced his disappointment over what he described as a “glaring oversight” in failing to include a voice from one of Nigeria’s most historically marginalized ethnic nationalities the Ijaws (Izon).
Determined to push for redress, Comrade Ezekiel did not stop at criticism, further engaged directly with senior leadership of the party, including chairman of the Party Senator David Mark, who in turn promised to address the concern in the spirit of justice and unity.
True to their word, and in the spirit of responsive leadership, the ADC has made good on its commitment by appointing Ambassador Tammy Lucky Opone, a respected media expert and grassroots mobilizer, into one of the most strategic positions within its campaign structure.
“There is a timeless saying that a leader’s word should be his bond. I must commend the ADC leadership, particularly the Senator David Mark-led team, for living up to their promise. The appointment of Ambassador Tammy Lucky Opone is not only a victory for the Izon nation but a statement of intent that ADC listens to the people,” Comrade Ezekiel stated in an official reaction.
The youth leader went further to describe Tammy as “a vibrant, visionary, and resourceful young man whose depth of experience in the media industry and understanding of Nigeria’s socio-political terrain will prove invaluable to the ADC’s public image and national outreach.”
Comrade Ezekiel emphasized that such moves signify a new dawn in Nigeria’s political architecture a shift toward true representation, equitable inclusion, and people-driven politics.
“Tammy’s appointment is both symbolic and strategic. It sends a strong message that no group, no matter how small or historically marginalized, will be left behind in the unfolding movement for national rebirth under ADC,” he added.
He thanked the ADC national leadership for acting swiftly, noting that responsiveness to legitimate concerns is one of the defining features of credible democratic organizations.
A Victory for All
“The appointment of Ambassador Tammy Lucky Opone is already generating excitement across the Niger Delta and beyond. It is being hailed as a “welcome development” and a strategic masterstroke that not only empowers a qualified youth but also opens the door for deeper engagement with the Niger Delta and other excluded communities.
Comrade Daniel Perela Ezekiel concluded with a heartfelt message:
“I congratulate my brother and comrade, Ambassador Tammy Lucky Opone, on this well-deserved appointment. You carry the hope and voice of millions. Make us proud. God bless the ADC, and God bless the Izon nation.”
